"Mad world, mad kings, mad composition" -Bastard
Here Shakespeare rewrites an anonymous dramatic treatment of the subject, the only time he uses such a source instead of the chronicles themselves. He changes the characters to show the king's wickedness and weakness, and raises Faulconbridge, the bastard, from swaggerer to champion of England.
Starring Claire Bloom, Mary Morris.
